Weekend Meditation and Yoga Retreat
I just spent a beautiful peaceful weekend at a retreat in the Avon Valley. It was held at Moondyne Country Convention Centre.
The food was plentiful and amazing which didn’t bode well for our yoga practice! The surrounding countryside was so beautiful that even I was tempted to walk for hours just to experience being there. The hills were a challenge but so worth it. The views were amazing (my photography doesn’t do them justice). Even the view from my bed was awe-inspiring.
The retreat was organised by Patti from Trans Genesis School of Yoga and Meditation. There were only eight of us and we got to know each other a little better spending time in discussion and encouraging each other with ways we would like to move on with our lives next year. The meditations together were loving and inspiring. We did do some yoga, lots of walking, a little artwork, and even had a swim. Saturday evening we were treated to some beautiful music by Rupert Guenther. Two nights wasn’t long enough. I’ll definitely be going back to the centre, and I’ll definitely be up for another retreat when it comes along.
There was also some time just to be alone in the peace of the countryside to meditate, read and write and just be. We don’t all have the opportunity to go away for the weekend but maybe you could consider taking a day, or even a couple of hours to step out of your busy life and take some time for yourself. “Some time for You” as my friend Kelly would say. Self care is so important to keep our lives in balance. One of the reasons I love meditation is because it gives you a chance to take time out to just be, instead of always “doing”.
